Ko Tao, Thailand
Coconut Monkey is one of my favourite cafes on one of my favourite islands in the world. The energy of the place, the food, the homemade kombucha; this place is delightful in every way. You can enjoy your food and drink on the seafront. I would describe all the dishes as wholesome food, made with super fresh ingredients.

My highlight for food is the tofu and black rice, it’s a simple dish served with sautéed vegetables and a peanut sauce, but it is delicious and super healthy.
If you’re looking for something sweet, the banana bread is the winner for me. The trouble with banana bread it is too often too dry but the one they make is super moist. It even features real banana throughout the slice, it’s not too sweet or overwhelming either. Just the perfect balance of everything.

My favourite thing about this place is the homemade kombucha - fermented tea that’s super good for the gut and immune system (like Yakult or actimel but dairy free and with a touch of alcohol from the fermentation process). They have so many different flavours, when I visited it was passion fruit, ginger and cinnamon amongst others.
The seafront vibes are amazing and surprisingly cosy. It has a certain calming energy which only the only sea can offer. You can be in or out of the sun on the terrace. It’s far enough from the main pier to not be disturbed by the sound of boats and the water is crystal clear.
You can’t visit Koh Tao without going here at least every morning.
